Principal’s Greetings & Message

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and welcome to this website of the Mizoram Christian College, MCC for short. Establishment of a College of this kind has been in the thought of the Synod of the Mizoram Presbyterian Church since 1995, but it could not be materialised on account of various constraints. That it has now been started is a matter of joy for the members of the Church and the people of Mizoram. It is hoped that it will grow, with the goodwill and  support from all, into a successful institution of excellence in higher education. The Indian Christians remember, and hold it with a sense of satisfaction and pride, the fact that Christian contribution to education in India is substantial and it has a well established history from ancient time till today, to which Indian public and leaders also have given due recognition. Christians have an ongoing mission to help the State, in overcoming the darkness of ignorance, superstition and backwardness in the country. The Church in Mizoram takes its “education mission” seriously. There was a time in the history of Mizoram, while it was a district of Assam, that the management of elementary education was left to the Church until it was taken over by the District Council. While under Church management, schools were considered as holy places next to the Church buildings, and the academic standard used to be very high. Knowing the positive impact education can have for the uplift of the communities, the Church also has run schools in its mission fields. These schools have proved to be effective change-agents to the improvement of the condition of life everywhere they are located. The Church is also concerned about the deterioration of human, spiritual, moral and ethical values in the society on the individual, economic, political and social aspects. That is why she has revived schools under Church management in cities, towns and villages, giving quality education to the people at the grass-root level. The academic performances and achievements of these schools are very high, having great impact in the society. The possible reason for this is the fact that teachers are selected with care, and work is performed with dedication and missionary zeal, without much concern for monetary benefits. It is felt that the Church as the “salt and light of the world” should use her resources toward addressing the issues of education, and help the State to train the young people towards the noble goals of developing the necessary capabilities and skills, so that they can effectively play their roles of service and leadership in various fields. She has the conviction and expectation that, by inculcating the Christian Gospel values in the young minds, the society will be reformed and equipped spiritually, morally and ethically. The Church will only have the satisfaction that, in so doing, she will fulfill her Divine-commissioned mandate and bring glory to God and to the nation. The College is, therefore, established to impart wholesome education in various subjects, with a strong input of  Christian teachings and worldview.

According to the Constitutional provisions, it is truly a Minority Institution with all the rights and privileges granted by the Indian Constitution. Thus it will conduct its life and functions in accordance with the ethos and style demanded by its identity and character as a Minority educational institution.  However, it will be administered with open-mindedness toward all persons, irrespective of gender, social and economic status, faith and spirituality, without parochialism. The academic standard prescribed by the University Grants Commission, the Mizoram University  and the Government of Mizoram will be ensured to the best of the ability the College has. Inter-institutional relationship and partnership with any like-minded institution of higher education are welcome at the local, state, national and international levels, while maintaining its particular identity of being an institution managed and run by the Synod of the Mizoram Presbyterian Church.
